First mod and already I'm confused

Cup Holder mod....
Can someone help me out?
Do I leave the original shallow insert in? (This seems to be the idea cuz then the new ones will SNAP in place...)
What two tabs do i Trim down?
Can someone explain in EXPLICIT detail or post a pic with highlight/arrow/circles.....
Cuz without trimming if u click in the new liner thing -- the top doesn't completely spring open.

okay the larger hole faces the rear of the car
the two tabs are in the upper front of the cup holder trim it down so it would fit
snug
then you gott remove the insides already
anit it will fit in
