Post First Dealer Encounter - DFW

I finally decided on a new car. The 3.2TLS w/out Nav. Decided to contact the internet manager at a local dealership.

Went in and started negotiating on Tuesday, started at $31300 and a $2500 trade in (after getting the appraiser to look at it). After some talking got hime down to $29500 and $4000 trade in. Asked to commit, but decided to walk away and think about it.
Still wanted some options.

Went in again today - (Had appraiser look at it again). Made me sit around and wait for 20 minutes.

Then came back and said, I'm going to give you my best offer ----
31000
and $3000 trade in.

I look at him increduosly and thought "what the f??k". We're supposed to start where we left off.

I give him my worksheet, $29500 /$4000 trade in, and some selected options, and say this is my offer. Are you going meet it?

He responds with No.

Bye, I walk away (pissed) Incredible bs.

Oh well, I'll just have to wait it out.

Any other DFW expierences?

Put your offer in a letter stating that you know the exact car you want and know exactly what you will pay, and Fax Blast it to all the Acura dealers in your area. This tactic has worked well for me and many others. I got my TLS w/o Nav for $29,775 using this method.

There are 4 dealers in my area. I was thinking about doing the fax attack, but I decided to go to Carmax and get an appraisal
on my trade in for leverage. The appraisal matched my requirements and helped me negotiate for the car.

In any case, this is a mute point, because I purchased the car earlier today for a fair price. I pick it up on Tuesday.

Thanks to all on the forum!

Jay Wolfe Acura in Kansas City played the same trick on me. I walked and made a better deal at the other dealership than I was anticipating. If they can't remember their numbers overnight they sure the hell won't remember you when you have other problems. Try the fax process. Good luck!

Well I've got a good offer on my RX-7, and I accepted it. I now need to find a good buy on the TL-S "quick"! I've gone through AUTOBYTEL to see what happens. Monday I'm going to try the fax attack. I figure with it being the end of the month I might score. What dealer are you going through?
I went to David McDavid in Plano and they haven't budged off MSRP.

I spoke to Steve Noack at David McDavid. i came in ready to buy after all the research from this site.

After the initial bs, I got him down to 29600 for 2002 WDP TLS w/out nav (includes
destination, wheel locks, and all season
floor mats). My trade in might have helped the deal, but I'm certain if you a ready to
buy you can equally get a similar or better deal.

Tell him Prince sent you.

Best of luck!
