It's simple on a carberated vehicle (correct me if I'm wrong); you make adjust the carb to make it run really rich, then install a spark plug/igniter in the tail pipe that's actuated by the driver (like on a barbeque grill). Then stomp on the gas to get a good meter of fuel from the power pump on the carb and ignite away. God knows what you'd have to (or why would you'd want to in the first place) do on a TL to run that rich.

LOL

the reason i ask is because last week at the races, i was following a supra and i saw a big burst of fire come out of the pipe. it was the tightest thing ive ever seen on a car so it is not possible to do it on a TL? (i know, someone will say "anything is possible with money )

I would not think it is possible with todays fuel injected vechiles. You might be able to rig some sort of spray nozzle and sprarkplug in the tailpipes. Be careful. KABOOM

Wink

I do believe that was probably from a turbo? If you run extra advance of the timing, keep the "boost" turned up on the turbo, when you back down from speed, the turbo "burps" out some unburnt fuel and it ignites from the hot exhust.

I heard about a car on stick in Staten Island that does that. One of my buds knows the person and the person told my bud that he removed something from the engine to make the fire come out. The fire comes out everytime he switches into 2nd gear. So that's a lot of fire

As Beavis would say "Fire! Fire! Fire!"

I don't know if that can be done on the TL (what I described what the above person had), ask the guy how he did it.

You know me and my famous saying. Anything is possible with money. And i hope you have lots of it to fix the TL after you get fire to come out of the exhausts.

It'll be cool to jerryrig one. Maybe dual exhaust with one tip as exhaust and the other tip hides the canister of some flamable gas. Trigger activated by a driver side switch or something. Any aerospace Engineers?.. Daverman??

For a fuel-injected, computer-controlled car like ours, I think it would not be recommend to richen the fuel/air ratio to produce unburnt exhaust gas.

I did hear about someone using two electric fuel pumps, tapping into the fuel tank to direct fuel into the exhaust pipes. When you flip the switch, the fuel is pumped into the hot pipes and fire ensues. Of course, this sounds way too dangerous to me and I would never do it, but apparently some other people have done this before. Just make sure you use very very little fuel pumps with very very low pressure and probably some kind of one-way flow valve or you will have a real-life explosion worthy of the silver screen.

i was going to say that it is from squeezing (nos) but i dont think that is the case because i saw a scene from FAST AND THE FURIOUS and they were reving while flames shot out of the tip.

Oh jeez, it's really not that complicated. Every exhaust stroke produces fire, the exhaust systems job is to quench that fire and clean up pollutants. On typical turbocharged cars with downpipes replacing cats, the super-hot, mostly rich mixture does not get killed, resulting in flames coming out with every stab of the pedal. Rotaries especially are prone to this as they are tuned super-rich and prodce the hottest most explosive exhaust.

I think this is one mod that i advise to not even attempt unless you know exactly what yer doing and far away from anything or anyone else. Peeps would be saying, "Holey Smoke!"...and be running away from you.

Your right...that is by adding the spark plugs somewhere down the exhuast line before the mufflers. This way you only have to run semi-rich and once the spark plugs ignite, kabamm...theres your flames. A little to risky for me though....
