Well, the time has finally got here. After months & months of waiting. They just now collected our money for the the unichip to ship out tomorrow. I'm very excited. Anyone else here amongst the 35 that ordered one. I do know most of the ones that ordered one was cl type s.

Yep, got in on the group buy. I have an '02 NBP TL-S.
Hopefully it is worth the wait.

I ordered one, should be here tomorrow or Thursday. I am thinking of doing a before / after dyno with some of the CL guys when they go in a few weeks. The unichip is easy to do a before / after dyno since its plug and play and there's also an "on / off" switch on it.
Here's a more direct link to the dyno that mattg did on his car:
http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143724
For those that don't know, the Unichip is the first (that I know of) ECU chip for the J32A engine (TL Type S and CL Type S). Its a piggyback chip that plugs in and alters some of the signals that your normal ECU sends out to enhance the performance of the car. Based on dynos it added about 10whp/10 ft-lbs throughout the entire RPM range, with max gains of about 20whp/20 ft-lbs at close to redline.
The cost of the Unichip was originally $675 with a $100 deposit required up front. After producing the chips, the guys at Unichip were nice enough to lower the price to only $608 plus shipping. There were only 35 plug and play units produced and although Unichip was not against doing another group buy they would need another 35 dedicated people (with $100 upfront from each one) to start production on another batch of plug and play units. The cost may not be the same depending on the deal you work out with them.
If you want details you should read through the Acura CL threads that have been posted up.

Thanks El. Well add me to the list as a definite.....hopefully we can revive this issue and get some more people signed up! I was not a member when this first circulated.

I'm not the one championing this effort, however the main problem with TL-P and 6 speed CL owners, is that we had no one willing to volunteer their car for this project. I believe Unichip agreed to give the chip away for free, to the volunteer.
#23
Ok... just got off the phone with Jack over at Unichip, and yes, what we need is someone in Portland to volunteer their car in order to set the maps, for our specific application. If anyone on this board lives out there, and is willing to do this, we can make it happen.

OK heres the deal...since i want a TL-P chip, i am willing to give the volunteer $50...maibe we can get some people together to bribe some TLer to give up his car for...hey PANA, how long would they keep the car for.
i'd give mine up but im in the exact opposit side of the country...south FL.

Not sure, but you will have to be in the area, it seems to take some time to get it just right... In other words, they make changes, you test drive, come back, tune some more, test..... so on and so on

well boys, installed my unichip tonight & I'm very happy. The car runs like a dream. Its pulling like a bastard. Very smooth running. This is a definate for those of us who mod. Its a must have, If you enjoy power & torque the way that i do. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully they will have another GB pretty soon.

I intalled my Unichip from the group buy today. Took the TLS out for a short drive and could not tell much difference. Based on some of the dynos coming in doesn't look like the chip is delivering very much. Some dynos show no gains and others show minimal gains.
I will be taking mine to the dyno next Saturday for a before and after and possibly a custom Unichip tuning.
Right now, I would hold off on any recommendations.

you are in the "A" setting right? Drive it a little more & see if you notice any differance. I'm really getting confused on people getting different results. I'm still very happy with mine.
