The fastest I have ever been in a vehicle was 181 MPH down the QEW Niagara at 11:00pm at night in my 1995 Acura NSX-T. Now, before all of you start to flame me as a stock NSX's top speed is limited to 172 MPH... I have done aftermarket modifications including:

Comptech Headers
Comptech Exhaust
CAI
Performance Chip (ECU)
etc...

It was amazing, but scary as hell. The front of the car began to lift up off the ground due to lack of downforce and wind presure going underneath the car. I will post pics ASAP.

Aydin 11-04-2003 01:29 PM

I have taken my 2000 Tl to 148 Miles per hour or 237 km/h. I've done it about 3 times.

taken my bike to 250 km/h

I went 165 certified mph in an original 1966 AC 427 Cobra. I say certified because we where using an optical third wheel to measure speed and not the speedometer. We hit the rev limiter in fourth gear. We also ran an 11.9 second 1/4 mile at 119 on street tires and on the street. It was a fun day of testing for a magazine article.

I have also done 155 on my ZX11 Ninja and the bike wasn't breaking a sweat.

GrKsTyLa 11-04-2003 09:55 PM

142 mph @ 3.30 in the morning comming back from exit 68 on the L.I.E., me and 2 other guys in the car. HAHA, I did about 5 exits in about a minute and a half.:D

samkws 11-04-2003 10:33 PM

i got a new record lately...

doing 140mph @ 1:30 am...:p

it was done by just giving two third of throttle in 4th gear~:D

Dave DC 11-05-2003 06:31 AM

110 in '00 TL somewhere in Nevada on a road trip to Vegas. The ride was smooth as silk and could have pushed faster...

samkws 11-05-2003 09:17 AM

can't believe this thread is still going after all

it has been here for more than a yr!!!:wow:

GoldieAlek 11-05-2003 09:35 AM

r10apple 11-05-2003 10:25 AM

When I was 18 some dumb@ss brought his Testerosa to our detail shop and left the keys to "drop it back off" later. Needless to say, driving it back we had it around 170mph and it was freakin' screaming and just as scary...

I did 150mph yesterday!:D

psutank88 11-05-2003 10:32 AM

1996 Maxima - 145 mph

tenmile 11-07-2003 01:12 AM

'97 Mitsu Eclipse- 135mph, Floored, downhill. Flat, it would have topped out at 120.
'97 Grand Cherokee 4.0L- 120mph, straight line (I70 in Utah), woulda kept going, but rev limiter kicked in
'98 Grand Cherokee 5.9L- 115mph, straight line (I70 in Utah), rev limter kicked in. Was a FAST car- 6 sec 0-60, even on 31" Mud tires- the ultimate sleeper.
'99 Civic- 110mph, scary at that speed, the back end is too floaty
'01 323i- 120ish
'02 Boxer S- 145mph, had plenty more go :D
'02 RSX- 115mph, also scary at that speed
'00 TL- 70mph before the tranny went :D

120Mph on a long Road trip to VA... Car felt like it was floating:D

VTEClover 11-08-2003 03:18 AM

143 mph legally on a German Autobahn several times, 2003 MB E240. Its so nice on good highways and not worrying about cops and radars. Folks even move out of the way and let you go right by. Not bad for a 150hp diesel!

136 mph legally in Germany in a 1998 BMW 520i. Those guys know about top speeds. Would love to have my TL there.

mkeeth 08-07-2006 10:44 AM

155+ Speedo was pegged in a 2000 T Bird SC. Trying to keep up with a Ford Lightning.
Havent had my TL S long enough to find some open road.

KaMLuNg 08-07-2006 11:26 AM

wow this thread was brought back from the dead...

98 3.2TL i have gotten up to 135 on i-95...

but the fastest i have been in any car is 170 in a 1990 Sentra SE-R... ill post pics of the car if someone doesn't believe me...

Doc's TL-S 08-07-2006 11:32 AM

130 riding in my friend's 2000 Saleen Mustang, and that was only third gear!

But while driving, that would be in my '02 TL-S at 120 mph. I was racing a kid in an RSX with intake. I was stock. He got the jump on me, was behind me then jumped on it and came around when I wasn't looking. I jumped on it but he had too much momentum built up already. I lifted when I hit 120. Felt like it was planted to the road. Should not have done it though. :tomato: I was on the interstate with a lot of other cars around, AND had my daughter and her friend in the car.

Watch out when speeding in a small car. Had my 1980 Ford Fiesta up to 85. Yeah, it felt like it was floating. Too light for high speed.

Pure Adrenaline 08-07-2006 11:37 AM

^^^ To this day, I'm still amazed by the stability of the TL at high speeds. I've searched high and low for the Cd and perhaps even aerodynamic results of the car, but nothing. Does anybody know?

 That ride would have been a dream for me. I love that car. Really wish that I could get my hands on an original, '66 - '68. Of course, with all my bills right now, can't even afford a replica. Maybe someday....

120-130 in the TL both racing and for fun.

140 In a 2003 Harley Truck Modifed while racing a Stage 1-2 Srt-4.

Much faster in a few other cars/bike

XxXboboXxX 08-07-2006 12:14 PM

120- 130 in my Tl-S - no need to risk goign any faster

150 - my friends balls to the wall single turbo fd3 rx7, needless to say we wer still spinning tires into 4th coming up on 100 then traffic so time to slow down

160 - the other day in my boys z06

TL is fast, I just don't understand the gearing... aparently fourth will take you up there, but... up there stops at just under 150 MPH. Does the 6 speed stop at the same top end or does it let you achieve higher speeds? BTW, old thread, but always fun to read.

its called limiter on tl-s and drag vs hp

stiletto 08-07-2006 01:16 PM

hmmmm... yes. yet "143 mph legally on a German Autobahn several times, 2003 MB E240, a 150 HP turbodiesel" is just shy of 147 (or so) for the TL-s with more than 100 h.p. difference. Either the e240 is an aerodynamic marvel or that car always travels with a tail wind.

The limiter, is it confirmed that there is one? Please point me in the right direction... in my old age I have forgotten many things. :-D

150 hp but most likely 300+ FT/Lbs torque. that makes a huge differnce.

Its not hard to get the TL to those speeds and sustain them.
And the TL-s is limited. Not many TL-p owners have tried to find out, but mine never had a limiter

moahdriven 08-07-2006 01:46 PM

145 in my TL...they must have put a governor or something in the 02-03, or just the 03 TL's because my engine cuts off at 145.

fsttyms1 08-07-2006 01:49 PM

^^ supposed to be 149

senixon 08-08-2006 12:57 AM

'02 TL (non-S) = 145mph... seemed like it could have gone further a bit
'96 Maxima SE = 140mph... also could have gone more very slowly

140+ mph in my old mod prelude (VTEC)....needle was buried.

160 mph on my CBR 600F3

My cars past and present:

1980 Tercel - 86mph (at least that's what the ticket said  )
1984 GT-Turbo - 132mph
1988 FZ600 - 135mph
1990 TSI-AWD - 145mph (it will go faster :D)
2000 TL3.2 - 120mph (not maxed)

S PAW 1 08-08-2006 03:31 PM

Speedo said 156 on my TL in 5th gear. Using 6th would slow me down. Had her there twice. The stability at high speeds is unbelievable.
'05 TL 6MT no nav.
A spec suspension
K&N Typhoon intake
Michelin Pilots
V1 on the lookout
