Extended warranty question on a new TL-S

I purchased a tl-s w/navi today at 32,000. I don’t think it’s not a terrible good deal, but not too bad, I hope.

However there’s one thing seems too good to be true. The finance manager persuaded me to purchase the 7 year /100,000 mile extended warranty an additional 1,000$. The finance manager said the warranty is fully 100% refundable with in 5 years if no service has been rendered. He added a note on the back of the blue sheet (the example contract) saying “100% money back guarantee” with his signature. However the text states after 60 days, the refund amount will be prorated. (I am still waiting for the actual contract.)

Is this too good to be true (money back guarentee in 5 years?), or I am missing something?

Thanks for your info!

Its probably like the text states, that the 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty is refundable at a pro-rate. So if you cancel it at 5 years, you'll get however much they deem the last 2 years to be worth...

BTW- Overall not too bad of a deal, although for $32K I was able to get a TL-S with NAVI, OEM Spoiler, Moonroof Visor, and Wheel-locks ... Only maybe $350 worth of extra stuff at dealer cost though... so not a big difference.

It all depends. When I bought my car at Acura of Avon in CT they tried to get me to buy an extended warranty at the time of purchase. The finance manager told me the same thing--100% refund provided you don't use it at all. The paperwork also said the same thing. Funny thing is, it was an Acura dealer but they were selling an aftermarket extended warranty (honored by Acura but underwritten by a 3rd party). I'm guessing they make a bigger commission this way. I passed and ended up buying one later through warrantygold.com. It's not 100% refundable (prorated only), but the coverage is just as good and you can go anywhere with it.

Thanks for the info. I finally gave up after being pressed by the finance manager for 2+ hours. I wouldn’t have spent another 1000$ had they not promised 100% money back guarantee in five years.
I will wait for the actual contract and see what it says.

Now I am learning navigation system, it’s very cool! But I was kind of surprised that it doesn’t have my work place in the map – a decent office building in the downtown Dallas!

May be I could have gotten a better deal, but the car has the color I like and it’s brand new, only 8 miles on it.

I've been thinking about getting the extended warranty. Can you get it after buying the car? I bought my TLS in June and I've already got 12,000 miles on it. At the rate I'm going, I'll run out of the warranty before the 4 yrs.
