Exhaust that sounds most like a Dinan exhaust

Sorta weird question...

My friend has a bmw 330i with the whole Dinan setup... his exhaust sounds ridiculously sweet... does anyone know which TL exhaust sounds most like it? It's best described as a really bassy rumble when idling... a very deep sound when driving... not rice sounding though.

I don't personally care for the sounds that the G35/G35 coupe make... Doesn't sound very... Luxerious. I'mean... don't get me wrong... it's more sporty sounding... but I just don't care for it.

1. Comptech Headers - They're the first part of the exhaust system and replace the exhaust manifolds on your car. They add virtually no noise to your exhaust system but are worth about +30whp max gain (on a Type S) in the upper rpm range. Its one of the most simple mods for our cars and gives some of the best power gains.

2. Comptech B-Pipe - 2nd part of the exhaust, realistically if you combine this with the axel-back exhaust then its a cat-back exhaust. The B-Pipe was really developed by Comptech for Supercharged applications and doesn't really have too many advantages for N/A applications. In some cases people with N/A engines noted that the car was actually slower in the 1/4 with the B-Pipe than with the stock exhaust.

3. Comptech axel back - Last piece of the exhaust, includes the muffles and a bit of piping. The axel backs are the most noticeable because they create a different exhaust tone, and look different than the stock exhaust system. The axel back exhausts are only worth about 2-3whp, so they're not really a good performance mod for the car. Its just really for the looks and the sound.

On a supercharged application the full cat-back exhaust is worh a decent amount of horsepower, I think on the 6spd CL-S its worth about 10-15whp max gains.

Your right, they have VANOS, which is much better than VTEC

If your looking for a similar sound that the 3 series creates with the dinan setup, your pretty much looking at the entire comptech cat-back system. then, your not going to be right on, but you will be DAMN close... but you will never get the same sound...

The only way to get a dinan sounding exhaust is to buy a BMW.

Try the A'PEXi WS. It has a VERY deep sound and its not loud like the other A'PEXi exhausts... just nice and sweet like you described.

Yeah, he has the 330i w/ steptronic transmission... the 330s don't give jack for performance without a manual tranny
