Question Exhaust Pipes Too Visable

Greeting! As a newbie, I wish to say that this forum is just a wealth of great info. I've always thought Acura produced some of the best cars available today. The new TL-S is no exception!

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed how low and noticable the exhaust pipe is from the rear. I was behind a TL the other day, and really noticed the pipe, which runs along the rear axle. It hangs, what appears to be very low.

I wondered if hi-temp, flat black paint or a add on rear spoiler would help hide it.

Just a thought. Look forward to getting one in late summer. Maybe the dealers will be more flexable with the price Just have the ordeal of picking a color!

Glad I'm not the only one. Probably will just paint it when I get one.

I'm sure the car would look better lowered, just don't want the expense, as well as make the car any more stiff. The ride felt firm, and in Pa. the roads can be on the rough side. Wouldn't want to stiffen the car any more.

Painted the pipes tonight and they look a lot better. Used high temperature paint (flat black) designed to paint gas grills. It cost $5.00 and took two minutes. My first mod! (2002 TL-S,300 miles)

What is "high temperature" paint ? Where did you get it done ? Or did you do it yourself ? I too would like to try out this "mod", since I have observed this visual imperfection when a TL happens to be in front of me.

Thanks in advance.

I've used spray paint purchased at a local auto parts store, NAPA, that's designed for high temperature applications, like engine blocks and exhaust headers.

The paint cures when heat is applied. Simply paint and start the engine and let the pipes heat up.

There are different paints designed for different temperature apps. I've used a flat black on a muffler already and it turned out well.

I got the spray can from ACE hardware ($4.99). It is a high-temperature flat black. I simply sprayed the pipes after they cooled last evening and let it dry overnight. Today it looks great and I had no smell from the paint. I only used a small part of the can so I can use it to touch up if necessary.

guys as soon as it rains and the pipe gets dirty water on it it will look the same just darker. Sorry to rain on your parade but high temp paint on the exhaust is only a quick "show" fix and a detailers trick. it is a cheap temporary fix though.

I saw this post yesterday & was looking at all kind of cars today. I know the pipe on the TL looks low but the pipe on a Lexus ES300 also is low.
