Exhaust alignment issue/question
Those of you who had their exhausts realigned/levelled, Did you actually look under the car to find out how the dealer fixed it?
I was under the car painting the Y pipe recently and noticed that the driver's side rubber exhaust hanger (just behind the bumper) was dangling. I reattached it and guess what; My exhaust is now crooked again.
I'm pissed. The dealer is going to hear about this one.

I used two wide zipties I had lying around in my garage and used them on the rubber hangers for both of my mufflers. It raised the tips a little higher on both sides closer to the car, aligned them both in height and in their placement within the cutouts for the bodykit and stopped the movement of the exhaust that even strangers were telling me about. Cost me nothing.
At the same time I pulled the tips out further by unscrewing them, rotating them 180 degrees and tightening them back in since I wanted them out a little further as they were so far under the car.

Thanks for the info Hyde... may try that myself! My right side is off by about an inch. Did ya place the zip tie on the hanger? (utilizing the same mounts as the current hangers) Also, how far were ya able to extend the tail pipes? Id have to agree, they are soo far under the car..
Thanks again for the info!

I placed the ties around the rubber hangers, two on each side as using only one caused them to snap. I just lifted the exhaust up and tightened the ties. I had a ton of ties lying around so I used them. If these dont hold I'll use hose clamps found at any autoparts store whcih are much stronger. If you are going to buy something just get the hose clamps.
For the tips I didnt pull them out as much as I could, I just wanted them much more flush. You have to rotate them as there are cutouts on the bottom that are visible if you dont rotate it when you pull them out, and it may look awkward initially until the inside of the tip is cotaed with carbon from normal driving since you extened the polished tip and not the inner piping, but mine looks fine now.

Thanks Mr. Hyde.
I was actually able to bend the hanger on the muffler somewhat to get the passenger side tip up and centered w/ both mounts installed.
I had forgotten about your "mod." I might try that to get the tips further up in the bumper cutouts. Thanks again for the renewed input. I like the idea about rotating the chrome tips too. I tried it and I like it. I always thought those screws looked cheap hanging down like that. They are on top now.
