100k is still only 60k after tax.
Figure 15% of that goes towards your retirement and you got 51k.
Have a nice home and 2,500 is going to your morgage. You now have 21k.
Bills, Insurance, Increased cost of living (2 lattes/day, wine instead of wine coolers, guiness instead of bud, real clothes). You now have about 10k.
When you get there, you realize it's really not as much as you thought.

I also agree with closer. Kids, wife, other vehicles, nice house, insurance, taxes, school, kids activities, vacations, toys...It all adds up. I am lucky that my wife is a 7+ too.
To help consume both of our salaries I have a $380K mortgage, 3autos, two motorcycles and 1/2 boat...the 01TL is my nicest car. I bought it mostly because of the value. I darned near got a luxury car at a honda accord price.
