Ever had your TL serviced at a Honda dealer?
I just got coupons from Santa Monica Honda for service. One of them is a oil change and fluid check for $19.95. I called their service and asked if they would honor the coupon for a TL (the coupon says for Hondas only), and the service guy said they would as long as it used the same filter. Anyone ever do this? Also, the Honda service guy mentioned that all Hondas after 1996?, whether Civic or Accord, use the same oil filter. Is that true?

All the filters I've ever obtained from my Acura dealer have the same part numbers as the filters I get from my Honda dealer.
With few exceptions, all Hondas and Acuras in the past SEVERAL years use the same filter.

Actually you are wrong lovesick, the TL uses the same oil filter as the Accord V6 and the price should be exactly the same. They both share the same engine platform. The TL one has just been bored out to 3.2 L vs 3.0 L among other changes. The oil filter however is not one of them.

Based upon your comments, I decided to give it a shot and have Santa Monica Honda change my oil. Unfortunately, the service dept. knows absolutely nothing about Acura TL's and the fact that they are identical (for oil change purposes) to new V6 Accords. Even though they can do it, I don't trust them to do it.
The good part is that I found an internet coupon for nearby Santa Monica Acura also offering a $19.95 oil change. The coupon expired, but service said they'll honor it so I set up an appointment for Friday morning.
