Even with a M3

Even with a M3
Last night i was out and about and i happen to pull up next to a yellow M3. Not the most recent 333hp model, but the one before it. (best looking IMO) well i didnt know if he was gonna go or not, so the light turned green and i hit it and he didnt jump. I resumed normal accel and then i hear his engine roar from my blind spot. He mustve been caught off guard. The second i hear him gun it i did the same. We stayed dead even until i let off around 70mph. My 99TL impressed me, and him im sure as well.

There are a few variables and possibilities why this odd outcome took place.
1. He was probably caught off guard, like you said, and once he realized you were "racing" it was probably too late if you were a good distance past him for him to beat you outright.
2. That car was most likely a manual transmission and he may have slipped at the line or was unsuccessful at getting a good launch and subsequent shifts.
3. You have the best 99 TL ever and he has the worst E36 M3 ever.
That M3, if you said, was the 95-99 generation and has a pretty potent inline 6 at around 240 hp. 0-60 times are in the mid to high 5's so those could give a modified TL-S a run for its money

well, yeah i know i would get beat. I think #1 is most likely the case. i was already at about 4,000rpms when he punched it probably at around 2. And i guess there are not "definate" ways of telling if he had it floored or not. Well, whatever, it was still fun and i got a so its all good.
