It can all be done, but the question is, do you want to? The reason I ask that is because of the computer contoled VTEC in our engines. Playing around with the camshaft will definitely have an impact on the computer, unless some company has already researched this and offers a viable solution. Also, the realibility will be hampered as well.

Putting in a new cam usually equals more hp by increasing valve lift and duration, allowing more fuel/air to enter the cylinder, which will create a bigger explosion, putting more pressure on the pistons, thus generating more power. However, if you swap out the cam, you need to change the intake, etc. You just can't just change one component and expect perfect performance. Engine kits usually come with all the necessary parts to get the job done right, but are they available for the 3.2 VTEC

As for the pulleys, anything that is belt-driven robs the engine of hp. That's why when the a/c is on, your hp goes down. Putting underdrive pulleys on your car allows some ponies to be freed up, but at a cost. For example, your altenator output will be less which could cause some serious disrutptions, especially if you have accessories like a slamin' stereo. IMO the amount of hp gained is not really worth the money for the pulleys and the potential for other problems to occur.

Since the other two have been covered, I'll take cam gears:

The TL uses marks on the cam gears to fire the ignition, so any adjutments you made in this regard would also alter ignition timing. Don't expect to see adjustable cam gears for the J-series.

Honda engines operate in a closed-loop fashion, controlled by the ECU. Messing with the engine will ruin the balance, unless you modify the ECU appropriately.

The cost of unscrupulously changing engine parts include loss of performance, excessive wear and increased emissions.

Talking [new idea]

alright, another funny thing popped up in my head. Is everyone well acquinted with drifting and powersliding?

well i was sittin in my friend's civic and he was pullin drifts...ANYWAYS, i was wonderin if anyone has tried it in a TL.

A TL with its step e-brake and FF drivetrain makes stuff like that prettttttty impossible!!! (yah and i kno a TL is a Sedan )

does anyone have any opinions on that fact?

You could do it without the e-brake if you had RWD and some power.

For FF yes it can be done. The problem about the step e-brake is once your car drift or while is drifting is hard to take it off. So you could do safely to come to stop with a drift. I have done it. Both TL and old eclipse with hand e-brake.

The one you could easily do is a reverse drift. Just go reverse to about 25mph or when you feel comfortable that you will still have control after you drift. Once you reach the desire speed turn the wheel to either side. Turn right to drift to the left and the other way around. After you start turning press on your brakes ABS will no allow you to lock the wheels but it will be enough to get the car to drift. Practice until you do a perfect 180. You might need it some day. trust me on this one

They are hopefully near completion, but I didn't say anything.
