Engine Torque Damper

So I've been complaining about the mounts. Kris showed me the Engine Torque Damper that the CL guys have been doing. Now my mind is itching. I am going to do this mod. It will be my problem solver..Now here comes the questions..

1) Will any dampers just do?

I figure I dont need to spend 150 bucks on an ingalls damper because it's just there for the cushioning. Just like it's the back up power obsorber. It's not like my TL-S has 1000 horsies or anything. Am I correct or not?

2) Two is better than one of course.

I saw on the CL threads that they put the damper around the front mount and in the rear next to the power steering(i believe). If I had to use a high quality damper, which one do you think would be more effective if I could only afford one? Of course if i can just use the cheap ebay ones, I would use two.

3) How come the CL 6 speed has the front damper and we auto's don't?

Please help me with these questions. I plan on gathering some info and then fabricating a mounting plate for the Damper that I will be purchasing. Maybe you guys might be interested.

1). Remember, you get what you pay for.

1.5). incorrect, its there to absorb engine movement. (look for the ones that they recommended in the links)

2). Yes

2.5). Rear

3). The manual has it to help keep the motor in check. It doesnt have a torque converter to help absorb the impact of when you let off the throttle and nail the throttle.

correct, your car has far less than 1,000 hp, what it does have is more than stock, i would suggest doing it, stiff motor mounts and vibration dampers, (except for soft ones) have always done me right, in other applications that im familiar with it even improves throttle response ( a little) and off the line performance (especially at the beginning of a gear, at the end of a shift. when your motor shifts, not only is it changing the dynamic of its weight, but also losing a few (very few ) revs between gears and at the beginning of a new gear. Remember, your motor is 'twisting' all the time, if you can control that twist, more power goes to the ground.
