engine swap

has anyone done a type s swap on their tl. found a engine cheap and just wondering what steps i need to take before i jump on it.

never heard anyone do that before. it would be interesting to see it done.

Just curious...
How old/miles on your engine presently..??
what are the reasons you think you need an engine switch..??

i am sure it could be done, but there are other components, including electrical ones, that would have to be changed also, including the ECU. I dont know how you would get a list of all the parts you'd need.

what kind of swap? tl to tl-s ? tl to nsx?

lilboykorea 02-28-2003 06:10 PM

go for it! ud be the first!

I think this swap would be the most easiest one.

Your basically swapping from a J32A1 engine to J32A2. ;)

Good luck.

isn't it basically just the intake manifold and ecu that are different? displacement is the same..and im pretty sure compression is also the same..

It's true, most likely a head swap/ECU. The block is the same. But the compression ratio is NOT the same.

J32A1 - 9.8:1
J32A2 - 10.5:1

if its a whole engine then about the only thing you would need would be a ecu,

also wondering if the tranny and mounts are correct plus the wiring.

Tranny and mounts are the same. Transmission is the same on both TL-P and S.

Remember, both engines are essentially the same.

yup...just some higher compression domed pistons, to my understanding...
