Engine light comes on after radio install
Engine light comes on after radio install
I just installed a 2003 TL 6 disc indash changer into my 2000 TL. After hooking everything up, my SRS and check engine light stay on.
Does anyone know what is causing this?

Hey its me again!
Still frustrated with the whole stereo thing.
So you just installed your changer?
Do you have Navi in your car?
Was your wiring harness different for the new changer? Or could you just remove your 00 Radio and put in the 03 Radio?
I was told now by my dealership that the harness connector is different for the 00 versus the 03.....I am so lost.
I am ready to buy the stereo from Weber Brothers Auto which is from a non-navi system. I think it will work, I just dont want to get the car apart and find out I need a part on the weekend you know?
Let me know how it went.

I have a non-navi TL.
It was a very easy install other than my engine light stayiing on. Although, I don't think this is related to the swap. I also hooked up an FM modulator kit for my XM Roady unit and also a line out converter for the future installation of an amp. One of those two installs probably is the problem.
The harness plugged directly into the 03 stereo and so far doesn't aappear to have any problems. The total install would have taken me 45 minutes if not for the extra items being installed.
Everything plays great, including CDR's.
The only thing you need to do is get the security code from whoever sells you the radio. When you install the radio and turn on the ignition, it will display "code". You will need to enter the 5 digit code that is given to you.
If the seller does not have a code, tell them that they can call a dealer with the serial number off the back of the radio and should be given the code without any hassle. You may also call the dealer yourself, but I would make the seller do all the work with getting the code!
I called to get my code after waiting a week for the seller to provide the code.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

shodawg124,
I did a search earlier and found the instructions that are listed on the thread you listed.
The light never goes out after re-inserting the paper clip.
From other post that I have read, it could be the seatbelt recall.
I just bought the car so I'm not sure what recall items have been taken care of yet!
Thanks anyway.

Fifth time is a charm!!!
I just tried the paperclip trick for the fifth time and it finally worked. No SRS light!
I also got the check engine light off by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery.
I found all that I needed on this website.
THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE SHARED THIS TYPE OF INFO!!!
