Emergency Brake Pedal Won't Stay On

When I push down the emergency brake pedal, it will not stay on. It just pops right back up.
After 4 or 5 attempts, it usually engages about 1/2 way down, which to my way of thinking, is not using the brake at all.
Is this common? Any solution?
Thanks

Mine does this too but works after a couple of attempts. Did you try and push it all the way down and release it very slowly? That usually does the trick for me. If there is an actual fix for this that would be awesome

the pedal it self wont stay to the floor? Its a pump to engage pump to release. Maybe its gumed up and needs to be cleaned/lubricated

The park brake is a tiny set of drum brakes- located inside the rear rotor hub!
Remove brake assembly, caliper, bracket etc to get the rotor off and inspect
The rubber plug on rotor provide access to star wheel adjuster

Alright,
SSMTL01 got it for me.
Went home at lunchtime to check out the internal mechanism. I really did not do anything to it, that I can remember, that is.
When finished I began pressing down "very slowly" on the emergency brake pedal. It will now go all the way down and stay, until I push again to release. I tried it a few times and it seems to respond consistently.
I guess maybe I've just been pressing down too quickly?
Still too soon to bring back the jury, but I'll post the results after a couple of days.

Raster, I think yours is on the way to go out. Whether pressing quickly or not, the pedal should latch on everytime, and not spring back up unless you wanted it to. Mine started to take a few tries to latch on when the car was less than a year old, and the dealership had to replace the complete pedal mechanism.

MAybe try lubricating the mechanism. Maybe its just sticky and not allowing it to latch properly
