I have noticed that I often have a noise right after I start my car. It seems to come from the engine compartment. It sounds a bit like a electrical motor. Anyone else hsve this?

Its the VSA or Anti-lock pump working. No worries.

Is it sort of a short buzzing noise?

If that's the sound you're hearing it's the ABS self-test. It's perfectly normal and you should hear it twice .

That is exactly it. Have had several cars w/ABS and have never had it.

Yep.. me too... for whatever reason the newer (2001+) Acura's do it though. No worries as it's normal

My '92 Vette had the same ABS noise as the TL-S, as well as my '96 A4.

In addition....not only do you hear it whenever you start up the car....but you also hear it a second..third...or forth time whenever you USE the anti lock brakes. Try it. Go to an open stretch of road....slam on the brakes till the ABS engages then realease. You'll hear it do the self check a couple of seconds after releasing the brakes.
