Dumb alarm question

Dumb alarm question
This is a dumb question probably for everyone. Have 2002 TLS. I checked the manual and all of the other booklets, but I can't find the answer so you guys are my last hope.
If the alarm remote is broken or what not, how in heck do you turn off the alarm with the key? I tested and can't figure it out. The alarm went off, I'd place the key in the ignition and turn it on and the car started but the alarm kept going. The only way was to turn it off with the remote. How would I turn it off if the remote was damage or the battery dead?

Hmm... never considered that scenario. I'd try locking and unlocking driver's door with your key. I guess your Plan-B is to use your second key fob!

Be patience, just wait two minutes, the alarm will reset by itself.

well, how did the *alarm* go off in the first place? using the key to open the doors should be sufficient disarm it and neither would a dead battery or missing remote because you have the key. i believe the only time it ever sounds is when you unlock/open the door by pulling on the INSIDE door plunger WITH the windows down.
