Driveline - Transmission Problem?

My wife has a '99 3.2TL. It has around 60,000 miles.

Lately, it has been driving as if something is "holding it back." It is also making a low pitch "hum" that gets louder as I drive faster. At first, I thought it was the tires, but it is not. The sound stays the same regardless of surface area.

Anyone experience something like this? I am wondering if it is a CV joint. The transmission is not slipping or anything like that. It has the 4-speed auto and it moves through all gears fine.

Your help is appreciated.

Robert

Re: Driveline - Transmission Problem?

It sounds like a wheel bearing problem to me.

I noticed a low pitched hum after an oil change. I went back and the mechanic hadn't closed the air filter box properly. We opened it back up, made sure everything was in place and sealed up and the noise went away.
