Post ???Door edge guards, anybody???

Was considering adding these to see if it would close up the door edge gaps on my TL. The dealer told me he could only get the Taffeta white ones. Since our car is WDP, I would think the Taffeta would SUK. Has anyone used or seen this. Does it work?

Acura makes door edge guards? I was thinking of getting generic ones b/c I opened my door into a concret wall and it pissed me off! But that's a good idea. Do you know how much? Where did you see them? Thanks.

I wasn't aware Acura made door-edge guards. I've seen them for sale on A&H motorsports for the Accord, but not for the TL.

Are the dealer guards metal or rubber? What color does it come in?

Can't say for sure. Am talking with the parts manager of Acura dealership. However the same dealership owner also owns a Honda dealerhsip. Since he is offering only the Taffeta white ones, I suspect that he may be selling Honda door edge guards for the Acura. I guess they must fit.

Yeah, I have them. I got them from the dealer when I got my car, they are great. You can barely see them.

Thumbs up

Shoofin, thanks for the terse response. Unfortunately, you can't really tell much from the pic. What type are they, what color, metal or vinyl, flat or channel, where to get them, etc.? Any problems mounting them. Any problem fitting around the body side molding/molding channels? All of the above would be helpful to all of us. Thanks in advance for your expanded post.

BTW, we like the look of your car. It's sweet.

Hmmm...the ones I have match the color of my car so its barely noticeable. My friend has similar door guards like the one in Shoof's on her 325. Her's are coming off actually. I don't know about Shoof's but I can vouch for mine. They are pretty awesome.

Do not suggest installation of door edge guard.

I had it installed on my 94 Accord. After 4 years, the door edge guard cause my door frame to start to rust.

What?!?! Were they metal guards? Can't imagine why plastic/rubber ones would cause rust.

The rubebr door edge guard were rubbing against the door frame. The paint was rubbed off the bare metal were showing (i rarely used rear door, the rubbing were cause by everyday driving, i guess).

After several years, when I did open the rear door, i was shocked to see that the door frame were beginning to rust. The dealer ended up removing the door edge guard and buffed out the rust and repaint the door frame.

That's why I no longer had door edge guard installed.
