Don't go to Columbia, SC for Acura Service
Hello fellow members. I have recently returned to Columbia South Carolina to continue my studies, and had the misfortune of needing an oil change. I decided I would try one at the sensible location - McDaniel's Acura/Porsche here in Columbia - and was quoted two hilariously ridiculous prices. They wanted $47.50 for a standard oil change and $70 for a synthetic change. The woman on the phone even sounded proud in her announcement that these prices were BEFORE taxes . When I briefly mentioned that Jiffy Lube down the street charged $27 for the same service, she seemed surprised and tried to tell me that there was no way they could change MY oil that cheap, that they must be using oil that would be "very bad" for my car. The funny thing was that the 5W30 oil I had Jiffy Lube pour down my engine's gullet was the same brand that the dealer used. I asked the man at Jiffy Lube to sell me an extra quart, took it to the Acura service bay, and asked them to show me what kind of oil they used. Low and Behold! The same bottle. On my way out I asked the lady if there was anything else I sould look out for that would be "Very Bad" for my car. I guess McDaniel's Acura of Columbia, South Carolina will be "very bad" for my wallet. Bye Bye McDaniel's...
