Dom's Converter

I've researched and found out everything I need to know but this. If you are watching a dvd, does the nav unit still work in the background and will it give out the voice commands? I found a converter online that does this, but I'd prefer to get Dom's unit, as long as it can do this too.

Yes, the navi still works in the background. You can hear the voice and with Dom's conversion you just hit the switch to go back to nav if you need to see it. If you need some help on the install, check out my D.I.Y

One more question for you, how hard is it to do all the wire soldering into the nav unit? I've never done that before, but it'd save me $100 over getting the PNP, so I'd rather do that as long as its not too difficult. Thanks again!

As long as you can do basic soldering, you'll be all set. Go to Radio Shack and buy some shrink tube, real small for the nav wires and a little bigger for the others. Slide the shrink tube up the wire before you solder. Afterwards, slide it over the joint and heat it a little (with a lighter maybe?). Just keep your solder joints slim and wait for them to cool before you slide the shrink tube over. Just follow my wire diagram and you're gold. I spent a lot of time figuring the wire diagram. Maybe I'm slow or just overcautious, but I didn't want to mess up my nav. Just take your time and you'll be fine. Don't waste your money on the PnP. Even Dom says that. Goodluck!
