Does the MDX steering wheel fit the 99/00/01 TL

I might be able to get my hands on a perforated leather one, but I'm trying to figure out if it will fit my 99 TL.

ANYBODY KNOW?

I'd say YES because the airbag's same on both cars. Good luck Neil.

My question is if an S2000 Wheel fits, The TLs's steering wheels was designed for grandma... its friggen huge, my S2000's was was PERFECT, especially for lap at the rack and proper grip on the wheel.

Wait a minute!!!

I just checked again, and here is strange part.
My database says MDX & TL uses same airbags(same part#) so I thought steering might be the same.
But it also shows that 99 TL & Type-S steerings are same (same part#)

But I called the dealer and they said MDX & TL steering wheels are different but Type-S steering wheel might fit. (He thinks....)

I am really confused now!!!!

I don't know how you did it or did you buy the whole thing with SRS and everything.

Take a look for your self....

I bought the wheel and had the dealer install it. I didn't want to mess with the airbag so I just let them do it. I know there was a very minor difference in the backing plate on the wheel where the cable reel mounts, but the consensus was that it would not cause any problem.

Since I had the wheel installed I had the fairly common problem of having the SRS light coming on intermittently. The first time they reset it. When it happened again they replaced the airbag. When it happened again, they replaced the cable reel and it has been trouble free for over two years.

This was all covered under warranty. I don't know if the wheel had anything to do with it, but I told the service department that if there was any chance that the wheel caused the problem that they should put the stock wheel back on. They assured me that the wheel was fine.

Hope this helps!

There wasn't originally a wood wheel option for the TL (until the TL-S came out I think).

When the MDX came out it had a wood wheel option. It looked like it would fit, so I went for it. The only other option we had at that time was to import the wood wheel from the Inspire at about twice the cost.

The only perforated black leather wheel with regular wood is the MDX wheel. A black leather TL-S wheel would have Blackwood.

What the heck are you doing to your steering wheel? Badly worn? The wheel should last the lifetime of the car...if you're changing the steering wheel because of wear & tear...

The clear coat wears off the leather. Mine did at the top of the steering wheel.

I wanted it cause it has the perforated leather. Dare to be different.

Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking. Well I do, I was talking about the wheels, not the steering wheel.

Nate - No wood, my hands sweat, so a wood wheel would probably KILL me

Patrick - I dont know, the wheel was like that when i got the car, i think the guy before me used some cleaning chemicle on it or somethin...

agean and randomwalk101 - they throw them away because selling them is a liability... think about it, a dealer sells the extra wheel, and some jackass (like me) puts it on, only wrong, and the airbag does not deploy, then he could sue the dealership... thats how my service guy explained it to me... they throw all sorts of stuff away... at least onw steering wheel a week, hell, ive even seen a tire and wheel from an MDX laying next to the dumpster once... its funny what you find the the garbage of a dealership ehehehe... My guy gave it to me with a "shhh, you didnt get this from me" type of thing worked out well, the instructions for the accord are the same so it was very easy to do in the end...

i put a typeS wheel into my 99TL. they are NOT EXACTLY the same internally, theres a weight inside the wheel to balance it out or something, i had to bolt it on to the typeS wheel differently than it was on the stock 99 wheel originally. i also had a problem with wear on the wheel, it was like the leather was peeling away. i got my car used so i dont know what the guy before me did to the wheel, but anyhow go for the perforated wheel, MUCH nicer
