do you have a warped dash

my car is a 2002 tl-s, white with black interior, the top part of the dash where the opening for the vents is not straight, i am pretty sure is cause by the sun, but on the other hand, i hardly drive my car, may be once or twice a week, and i don't park it on the street normally, if i do i always used the sun shade that i bought from the dealer, is exact size as the windshield so what other factors could it be?
my car is normally in the garage. and the car got 23,000 miles now

i want to see if you guys got this problem, did they replace it under warranty? i want to call the dealer and ask but i also want you guys opinion

do you mean the part where the plastic meets the leather? I'm not sure if normal heat can cause it to distort that way. Maybe it happened when you or someone was working on the car, sometimes when you remove the dash and use too much force, it bends and stays that way. Happened to me and now i have a little gap in between the plastic and leather where the middle vents are. Not sure though. Hopefully warranty fixes this.

you talking about the front defrost vents? if so, mine looked warped, but i figured it was normal, always wondered though...it doesn't bother me either way, the rest of the car looks awesome.

What up Hawaii TL? I hear ya man. The TL-S I just got was from Arizona. At the defrost vents you can see the yellow/orange foam where the vinyl has pulled away. Very nasty. Also on the right rear door panel. In front of the handle. Warranty covers that, right? Kidding. Damn the sun!!

yeah where the 2 defroster vents are at the top, may be is not from direct sunlight, but the heat inside the car cause the thing to warp, i guess i should call the dealer to find out, but i think it will be a bitch to change though

if u don't have it already, get some tints guys, it'll restore your interior for a long time protecting from the sun.

I have tints on the door windows and rear window...I don't think that will help this problem from where the warping is occurring.

samson, the exact same thing happened to me. i drive my car everyday but im usually parked in a garage so its not in the sun that much.

basically, thye repalced the dashboard and re-used the passenger side airbag cover and the thin vents by the window (the ones that are used by the defroster i believe. ayways, my passenger air bag cover DOES NOT sit correctly, it has an uneven gap and i can literally see inside of it and the little vents were warped as well and they reused them.

this was done under warranty. i have not gona back for the air bag or the vents but they are aware and said they would take care of it.

my advice to you is once you get the car back, before leaving the dealer, sit in the car for at least 5 or 10 minutes and look over EVERYTHING extremely well. the dashboard is a pretty large peice so look for any scrathces on your window tint (if you have tints). make sure all the center console pieces and what not line up perfectly. remove the center console wood pieces and make sure all the screws that hold the radio and cup holder etc. are the correct ones.

good luck. if you need any more info, PM me.

also, my actual dash board was warped, there were places on the dash board that i could see the yellowish foam underneath the black rubber or w/e it is. they had my car for over 3 weeks fixing the dash among other things. make sure that they have the dashboard in stcok (or that they ordered it already) before you drop of the car off. plan to not have your car for at minimum 1 week.

my dash look like that but not that bad, but warp enough for me to notice, i probably want them to warranty the dash, but i will do the actual install, this way i will make sure is perfect to me.....i probably have to ask if they allow me to, or just warranty like they normally would, but i take the dash home instead kinda thing

In order for it to warp from the sun, that would have to mean it had to be warm here. So no, straight like an arrow.

OMG!!!that is exactly how my steering wheel is. little cracks in a row. i had it replaced , and got a new wheel but the same thing happened to the new one. Acuras leather wheel seems like they are prone to crack like this.
i went back and now they are blamming it on me for wear and tear even though within the 2 new wheels i only put about 20,000 miles in the car.

im gonna keep going till i get it replced again!!!

the cracking you see in the pic posted above is exactly the same thing happening to my wheel, and the one that came with the car.
go to the dealer and get it replaced cause thier is no excuse i think that a leather wheel should be cracking especially if your car is still under warranty.
like i said above i am on my 2nd wheel and it is worse than the 1st wheel i had, so i plan on getting it replaced. dont let those cocky service reps. boss you around acting as if they know what the hell they are talking about anyways. all they do is type your problems into a computer, basically a male whore.

yeah im curious though, because i read my Pre Owned warranty booklet today for the first time... and it said something about INTERIOR not being included under warranty... they replaced yours the first time around? or you bought the second wheel yourself?? and would it be better to go to the dealer i bougth the car from fo warranty issues (mines is out of state) or my local one should treat me the same? thanks

well, i will never buy a new wheel when its actually obvious that the piece is deffective. So no i did not buy the wheel or will i ever buy one.

also i got it replaced the first time around. Also i took it to a dealer i did not bought the car from, that should not matter anyways. i mean the dealership gets paid when do work on ours cars, so its not like they are doing us any favors.
