DIY suspension

Hey I want to know from those of you who have installed an aftermarket suspension on your TL

How difficult was it? How long did it take and did you have help?

What special tools, if any, did you need?

If given the choice between doing it again on your own or having dealer do it what would you choose?

I got coilovers I think that is what they are called when the shock and spring are built as one unit. Trying to figure if I should do on my own.

By the way look at my # of posts and where I live! Spooky :wow:

i believe that you should take it to a dealership and have it done by them
i did installed coilovers myself it took me a long time to do it,
i would do it again but this is coming from someone who knows what hes doing
im tellin you if you dont know where to start unbolting and things in that manner take it to dealership, get a better chance there

Ok...the first week of January me and my friend had alittle gathering to install my springs...took us about 10 hours and 7 people to do it...we didn't have all the proper tools, so that just really helped us alot...but that's the longest I've ever heard..so I doubt it could get much worse for u

10 Hours Joey?. Sounds like one of those "How many guys does it take to change a...." joke.

But Rob, it's not that bad at all. The only special tool I needed were Spring compressors. Rachets, sockets, wrenches and allen (hex) keys are ordinary common tools, IMO.

Since coilovers basically replace the strut/spring assembly, I don't think it is that hard to do.

I replaced my front springs and the first side(drivers side) took me just about an hour. Not bad since it is the fisrt side but with all the cleaning up and what not, it took three hours for the fronts. I know the rears are easier. If I were to do it again it would even be quicker for sure.
Taking out the seat (back) is no bug deal at all as I'm sure you already know.

Have no fear if your mechanically inclined

I had my H&R Sport Springs installed at a body shop that specializes in Hondas/Acuras. It took them less then 1 1/2 hours and he did a perfect job.

Cost $100 for the labor.

OK I think I will do it myself. I have instructions and a service manual so all I need is a spring compresser or do you not need that for the coilovers? Thanks everyone.
