I had the same issue after messing up my dome light, so you can just run a switch to whatever you tapped into. Thats if you want to control them, but to each his own.

the write up was right on!! i followed it 100% and not one issue!! I also added trunk lights. 5 total and mine never popped any fuses. I tapped all lights to the wires mentioned in the write up for dome light connection.

I drilled a little hole inside each handle to mount the led into, its very easy and accessible from inside the door or outside. Just start small and work your way up until the led barley can squeeze thru the hole...

Question. This wiring instructions could also work for installing puddle lights right? Like the on and dime off as you use your key fob since its connected to the dome light.

I did mine on the back side.... also further up so you cant see them as well. I wanted them to illuminate the inside of the handle. Mine turn on/off when the car is in Or out of park. People Jock the shit out of them.

yes to the puddle lights. I wired 5 led's to the roof of the trunk following the navi wiriing. it lights it up very nicely, and you cant see the led's there pretty concealed.

I had no issues with fuses popping, if peoples fuses are popping they are prolly grounding out the wire somewhere durring the install. I added a total of 9 off the factory circuts and fuses. So you shouldnt have any issues with the puddle lights... where would you plan on mounting/securing the puddle lights?

Do you think once i complete this project that I can make it flash whenever I unlock and lock my car? Because that would be sick. and those are just normal led lights right? like the ones you would put as a headlight?

nevermind just finished reading through all the pages. but what i was really thinking, what happens if you want to go get your car detailed... you don't think that washing the car or somebody with dirty hands mess it up?

You probably could seal around the LED with some silicon type thing. protecting it from whatever may go through the hole and water/dirt-proofing it.

I don't want to end up tapping into more wires than I have too.
this is what i keep thinking too? Can anyone confirm, i may be interested in doing this.

Cool looking mod for sure! After reading through all the pages, I didn't see anyone pose this question though: since the LED's are tapped into the dome light, if you turn your dome light on for example while driving, does that make the door handle LED's light up as well?

NO, The LED light will not turn ON without the door being open. By setting it with dome light to ON position the LED does few cool trick.
1. Locked an Unlocked door with keyless remote will turn ON/OFF LED
2. The LED do cool fade turn off after you shut the door.
3. Always cool have door not complete shut to show off light at night ( car shows)

I spent all day today doing this DIY

Along the way I blew the courtesy light fuse on accident a couple times.

Problems:

there is no response to unlock, lock, or the trunk button on my remote.

Engine turns and sounds healthy like always but does not catch (sometimes after like a minuet it may catch but requires me to give it gas but then it shuts off again. then my garage is left with the smell of gas.)

Maintenance light is on.

Checked all fuses but I didn't see anything unusual, I'll check again tomorrow though. What fuses should I check?

Can't be the battery, I threw in a new battery and nothing changed.

Any recommendations? Don't tell me to search, I already did and every time I try it gives me worthless shit like "what oil should I use" or "why is everyone hating the RLX?

Please help me. Too tired to explain details.

Just a heads up guys. Don't touch the wires you tapped into on the driver side door to the metal frame next to all the fuses. My ECU is fried, the injectors are shorted out and stuck open, and the fuel pump is stuck feeding FAR too much gas. My engine wouldn't turn over because There was so much gas in it that the pistons couldn't even move.

New ECU = $1300 + labor......I just want to stick my head in a bear's mouth right now.

To be safe just run wires from dome light to the door handles , requires lots of wire but safer mine work beautifully, only did front doors made more sence that way pics will be up soon have been very busy ..

Just look up my name. Yes you can wire the back and anywhere else you can think of. Yes the should light up because its connected to it. So if you drive with your dome light on at night it will also be on. I bought waterproof leds of ebay cut them only need 3 leds and it turned out great, fore light and I put them up high so that you can only see the glow not the led it self. I will post pics after 10 days on my weekend off work.

Thread Revival! !! Is it possible to do this by simply powering the leds off the dome wires running down the pillar?? Why hook it up twice when all you need is to the dome light, as I would think it would do the fade in & out simply by being powered by the circuit that does it... any ideas???
