also, i found white LEDs n the radioshack website part# 276-320. They don't specify whether they are 10,000mcd or not? Can these be used as well?

I used 20 guage wire, I think it's stated in the parts list at the beginning. 20 guage fits perfect.

Right now they are just sitting there, I will put some silicone sealant behind them when I get a chance, they don't move much as it is. I'll post some pics...I know I've been promising this...tomorrow I will have my memory card and laptop in the same place.

I haven't found anything at RadioShack that is higher than 3600mcd. If you don't have a huge electronics store like Fry's(it's like a massive Best Buy/RadioShack combo, if you don't know), I would order them from ebay, you can get 50,000-100,000mcd if you want in bundles of 50 or more, they end up being like .10 cents each and they send free resistors you can even buy them prewired. Pretty cheap alternative to store bought if you can wait a week for shipping.

I, however, am one impatient son of a bitch, so I went to Fry's.

I am telling you all, you dont need 50k mcd LEDs for the door handles... I think i used 8k-10k mcd, and mine are almost too bright as it is..

For now they are just sitting there, like someone else said... they dont move much. If you want to secure them, you can use clear silicon or maybe even hot glue.

I would stay away from radio shack LEDs. You can try them out tho.. they may work fine.

What are all the on/off options included with the setup you have?

What I mean is will one door opening illuminate all handles or only that specific handle? Do they dim with the dome light? Etc?

When you open any door, all door handles illuminate(also the lights inside the two front doors). If you press unlock on your key FOB, they illuminate, and dim out with the dome light.

I work at the shack, and One 5000 MCD White LED which is 3.6 V costs 4.xx...Thatll be bright enough but for the price of four, you could get 50 on Ebay With the necessary Resistors included.

They go with the dome light. You hvae to have the dome in the middle position. They will basically turn on when you hit the unlock button on your remote or open your doors. They will turn off as soon as you lock your car also.

Also, i did mine in blue to match my dome light... hopefully this pic will work. Sorry, its kinda dark.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting using 50k LEDs, I used 10k and they are great.

Since the back doors don’t have door lights, you are going to have to run your own power wires. I wanted to run the wires in the rubber but its much harder than it looks.

Well, getting it to theis point was actually easy. I found that getting it through the frame and into the car was much harder! It took me a long time to figure out how I was going to get it run properly. I eventually found an opening that I could run it through.

On the driver side the harness is a little different. All the harnesses plug into a panel. You may have to remove 2 harnesses to get to the one that comes from the door.
The two wires you are looking for are:
White wire w/ blue stripe and 2 repeating silver marks(Positive)
Yellow wire w/ blue stripe and 2 repeating silver marks(Negative)

This also caused a slight problem for me... I tapped into the wrong wires and messed all the lights up.

First I didnt know the problem was here. I ripped off all the doors again and checked all the wires. Found nothing. I checked both fuse boxes and didn't find anything. Then I went inside and read the DIY again carefully and tried to find what I missed. Didn't find anything. So I check the driver's side again cause that was the most difficult for me and figured if I messed up, it was probably there. Turns out I was in the wrong wire. I was in a white wire w/blue stripe and ONE repeating silver mark. UGH. What can I say, it was late and dark. Oh well, then I fixed it and they all work now! I haven't taken pics yet though.

Much Thanks To CaliChris517 For The Great DIY

You can jump straight into connector d (i believe...its the top left one of the 4 wire connectors). It's the middle two wires and is easier than going up to the passenger side pillar to tap into the dome wires.

LOL, I'm doing this today also, and hit a dead end....can't figure out what to connect the rear passenger doors to, how to power them. The DIY, tells you to run the drivers passenger to the glove box area, and just leave them there. Same with the right rear passengers door, don't know where to power them to. I've read the DIY a bunch of times now, and can't figure it out...maybe I'm overthinking it..or just slow!! But I don't want to continue without knowing what to do, so I don't end up with your problem.!! Someone help us!!!!lol

Are the LEDs and wiring protected enough from rain/water?

If you run the wires from the back doors through the boot and seal the ends of the LEDs they should not be affected at all. I use liquid electrical tape, double shrink wrapped them and sealed the ends of the shrink wrap. I still haven't siliconed them in place but my car is at the dealer.

Davinci27, I posted an answer to your question in the thread you started.

oh, on an off note. When i first went to Home Depot looking for some kind of sealant for the wires, I ask a lady if they carried a product called liquid electrical tape.. I saw it on the internet somewhere, so i figured they would have it. This lady looked at me like i was crazy. She then asked if I was serious.. I told her yes. She then asked "am i gettin punked?".. I almost started laughing in her face. She then called 2 or 3 different department heads asking about liquid electrical tape... One of those department heads was the electrical department head... She(elec. dept. head) claimed she had never heard of that stuff.... I had to wonder around the store to find it. Goes to show you who they have working at home depot.

I would think it may not be equally shaved, unless somehow it's a different mcd than the others. Or some come further out of the door hanfle than others. The only other thing I can think of that would make one super bright would be the absence of a resistor, but that would burn out pretty quickly. I fried the shit out of one without a resistor just for fun, I can see how an LED could easily start a fire if it burned out in the car.
