Dirt hauler screwed me

I'm driving on the 57N when I hear pebbles hitting my car! I pulled up to it and got the info but the insurance company says it is tough to nail these guys. The body shop says to touch up the nicks will still show and wear down with waxing polishing. Also, it will not match well due to the NBP being metallic. They recommend shooting the whole panel. The nicks are on the hood, l and r front 1/4's rr 1/4. So then I have my car painted like a freakin' checker board. Another option is to paint the whole damn thing. I am really pissed. I have had my baby 8 months. 2k2 tl-s NBP. What the F%&K do I do?

use the opportunity to get a carbon fiber hood or do a custom color paint.

They do a damn good job of paint matching these days, and the body shop is right - better to shoot the whole panel. Hopefully insurance will pick it up for you.

I avoid trucks like the plaque, not only rocks, but other things tend to fall off them as well - I've seen hoses, paint cans, and even a wheelbarrow fly off trucks. The faster I can pass them, the better :-)

Let Paul (songoku) take a look at it at the Meet on 8/17 in Irvine. He may be able to give you some suggestions/recommendations on the paint.

I feel your pain. The freeways here in CA are horrible. These rock trucks, by law, are supposed to clean their vehicles before enetering the freeway, of course they don't. Most of the time there is even stuff coming out of the bottom of them anyway. I hate those pieces of sh!t truck drivers. My front bumper was chipped like you wouldn't believe after less than a year of driving and having the clear bra on it for 4 of those months. The bra helped somewhat, but it's overrated IMO. Rocks still got through to the crappy Acura paint and chipped it. Finally took the bra off and had Acura repaint the whole bumper under warranty (paint was also peeling). Very pleased with the way it turned out. Looks like new and hopefully the new paint is a little stronger. Report these bastard rock truck drivers and gardener trucks any chance we get. It sucks that people can't even have nice vehicles anymore.

I have the same problem, theres a road on the way to the lake that has a gravel pit on it so ALL the trucks go on that road and they dont tarp their loads, so i take a way thats longer just so that i dont have to deal with it. But my mom goes that way and now she has little chips out of her bumper and hood of her benz...

Clay bar.... Use it with Meguiars Quick Detailer (The professional product in a light brown spray bottle)...... Should take it off.
