Hey,

I just heard about the autos of the year:

Car of the Year -- Cooper Mini
SUV of the Year -- Volvo XC90

I don't know anything about SUVs but car of the year -- a freakin' Mini?! What were they thinking?! I think too many of those old farts are trying to hold on to nostalgia (ie their younger days). I've never driven a Mini (nor will I ever plan on going to a dealership) but seriously -- I think there were a few cars overlooked on this one. BTW, it was introduced *last year* at the 2002 NAIAS (I was there) so how is it eligible to win this year? (Nominations for Car of the Year for the autoshow has to be a new / redesigned auto)

Well, whatever the reason, it's car of the year. (Last year, the Altima won, right?)

I saw the Volvo SUV for the first time about 3 weeks ago and I liked it. It looked like an X5. The tail lights are a little strange, but the rest has nice lines.

As for the Mini cooper, it was unveiled at the show last year... it wasn't a production model at the time. It came out slightly after the show circuit. That's why it won this year. Just like the TSX was unveiled this year. It won't be out until April, which means that it would be up for car of the year in 2004.....
