Detail

Hello everyone,
I just got new 03 TL Type-S. I was wondering can I detail the car at home? What kind of wax should I use. What kind of cleaner should I use for interior. How often should i wax and clean the interior?

Here are some pictures of it. I am also updating some stuff so I will put more picture when I get done with all updates.

Zaino is the most popular, however, there are many good ones out there (Blackfire, S100, etc.). You can do a search and find some info on each.

There's a topic a few down from yours (as of this post ) which gives you some info on Zaino. Take a look: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=61534

Well, yes you can detail it at home, definitley. If you have a garage that would be even better and can make all the difference.

Yes, Zaino is the popular one here, but only if you have a whole day or so to spare doing it right.

There are as many opinions here as how to go about it as there are people in the country. You can eperiment and find a process that fits your favorite balance between effort and result.

Thsi is what I do for myself only because I like it and I'm not trying to keep up with the Jones' beause someone else puts more time in it and spends more money on the proucts they use.

I just:

1.) Wash and dry the car with Armor All car wash.

2.) Examine the whole car for road tar and other stuck on debris using Bug and Tar remover or (my favorite) 3M General Adheisive Remover- $10/qt.)

3.) Use clay bar and some Maguires Speed Shine for lubricant (if the car needs it that time around) You'll know after the first time you use it from then after.

4.) Wax with Maguires Gold Class paste wax one section at a time (1 door, 1/2 hood, 1/2 roof and a, b & c pillars, trunk lid etc.)

5.) After finished waxing, make this tool--- Get a 1 1/2" to 2" wide paint brush and cut it down so the bristles are about 1" to 1 1/2" long. Put duct tape around the metal band that clamps onto the bristles so it won't scratch the paint. Now use this brush to get to all the narrow places (around trim, chrome emblems, grill etc.) to brush out all the spots of wax you couldn't remove with the towel.

6.) I use Lexol Leather Cleaner and Leather Preservative on the seats and headrests.

7.) For the windows I use this gadget.
http://www.eastwoodco.com/itemdy00.a...1.x=91&I1.y=33 I thought it was a gimmic at first but it really does do a good job, especially in the inside of the rear window by the woofer. BTW-order x-tra pads too.

Like I said, you'll find your own process that makes you happy.

Invest in a 1. Califorina Squeegie.
2. Micro fiber towells.
3. Good buffer(Porter Cable).
As far as products that work, Try them all! That`s the only way you`ll know for sure. I use,

1. Collinite 476S (wax).
2. Zymol Detail Mist. (After Care)
3. Invisble glass
4. Never Dull
5. Mother`s Back to black
6. STP`s Tire care.
7. Purple Stuff
8. Lexol Leather cleaner and conditioner
Just to mention a few. Yes there is more!

Sorry guys I couldn`t help myself!
