Go with the 2000 Model. Some of us 99 owners feel somewhat cheated that we did not get the 5 speed autoshift and the side air bags with our cars, other than that, maybe Acura has made improvements to the 2000 year to get rid of any kinks from the initial model year.

If you have the money, go for a 2002 TL Type S ;-) Hope this helps.

I have a 99, and I am actually happier that there is only the four gears. If you are ever going to use the sport shift, the 2000 will automatically change from 1st to 2nd without your "permission." That to me is not true sport shift. Ask the 2000 owners about it.

And if you care about the side airbags, they are only slightly helpful in a side impact. If some jack-ass t-bones your car, you will be hurt whether or not there is an air bag there.

Just my $.02, and I am leasing not owning. Save the $3000 for crazy mods!!!

I would get the 2000 model.

Here's why,

1. It has 5 speeds.
2. The Navi(if you get the navi) uses DVD and covers the whole country plus it's more updated as well.
3. It has side impact airbags.
4. Higher resale value, when you sell it, that's a no brainer.

Other then that I really don't see much more differences between the two.

Also people have said the 2000 is a little faster top end, plus comptech has dynoed a 1999 TL against a 2000 TL both with headers, and the 2000 produced more hp...
