dead tranny at 25K

*sigh* .. guess no one has been *****ing about tranny issues for a while but I finally joined the dead tranny club.

after having linear solenoids swapped out to get rid of a check engine light previously, my car started to lurch HARD during shifts. Check engine light came on, TCS came on, D5 flashed.

had the car towed back to the dealer and they reported that I needed a new transmission. this kinda stuff makes you WANT to buy the extended warranty.

on the bright side, the dodge intrepid that they rented for me isn't half bad. big as that car is (almost a foot longer than the TL) it handles almost as well (if not better) as a stock non typeS TL.

I moved up to the TL from a Dodge Intrepid. I loved the car because it handled like it was two feet shorter than it actually is, and was relatively reliable. The handling is as good as a stock TL-P, IMHO. The big problem is that that thing accelerates like a Yugo (e.g. SLOW, 0-60 times of 10 + s). Seriously needs a better engine.

Sorry to hear about your tranny...

neuronbob, did u have the 3.5 liter v6? I dont' know if they had it in the older intrepids but this one .. I dont 'think' it felt like 10 seconds for 0-60 .. anyway, it turns on .. and u swear the engine is bigger than it sounds ... sorta like a big pickup type sound. it looks significantly bigger than our 3.2s as well. .. but I guess thats just a matter of placement.

I had the 2.7 liter, 200 hp. Should've sprung for the 3.5 liter, but money was an issue back then.

I hope you get your car back soon!
