Damaged Leather Passenger Seat
Hey guys,
Nothing has gone right for me these past few months. At any rate, long story very short, my passenger side seat has surface damage to the leather on the seat bottom and back and I want to get it fixed.
Acura Automotive Parts sells the seat back cover for $351.29 and the seat bottom cover for $239.62. I know nothing about how these parts are assembled to the seat, so my question is this: Is this something that my mechanically inclined friend and I would be able to do on a sunny afternoon or is this something that needs to be done by a professional?
I don't even want to think about how much an Acura dealership is going to charge me to do this.

Yup, I need to replace the back and the bottom seat covers, parts #2 and #8 in this diagram (although the diagram looks to be for a TL-P, it's the comparable TL-S pieces).

oh ok... what ur talkngi about in ur first post... the seat back cover... i believe that is just a seat cover, which is a cover for the seat... if u want to fix whats damaged then chances are ur either gonna have to take it to acura... see what they charge u and have them fix it, or take it to some one who knows about sewing and etc.

Actually I am in luck, the damage was not as bad as originally thought (I hadn't seen it yet when I posted). In fact, it doesn't appear to be damaged at all.
See here's what had happened. The passenger side window was left down a little more than a crack on friday night. Well it rained all day saturday enough to get the seat surfaces wet. Then on Sunday, temperatures dipped below freezing and thus the wet seats froze. My wife took the car to work today and e-mailed me when she got there saying that the seat had been really damaged by the ice and that the leather was all ripped.
However when she got in the car this evening, the ice had melted and the seats took their original shape. PHEW.
