D2S and D2R...
Aight, im about to secure my order on autolamps-online...I heard someone say that the D2S puts out more light and more glare because it doesnt have that stripe...I know our car uses a D2R, but are they interchangeable??? I would take the D2S to get the full effect...My car is gonna bling...BTW, im gonna take pictures of just one 6000K bulb and one 4200K so you guys can see the true difference...Shyne

Cool..
give us the review when you're done ShyneBoi!
And I think they are interchangeable.. it's just the shape of the bulb that is different.. The D2S just have the glare on them like the bimmers use in their projector HIDs

Hello Shyne, and thankyou for your order!
Please discuss your requirement for the D2R because, we have done various experimentation over the past year and for a retrofit
application or OE application out side of Europe the D2R is not required.
The stripe on the lamps helps hide the salts which would appear as parasitic images in the light dark transition area of the European Assymetric dip pattern.
On a retrofit or DOT beam pattern you do not have this light dark
transition requirement and as such the D2S is just fine for any application.
We don't stock many of the D2R for this reason, however, it is not a problem to order them from Philips. The next stocks will be delivered in 2 weeks so if from your reply we consider it necessary to supply D2R against your order we can add them to the delivery?
Look forward to hearing from you.
That is the letter they sent me...I sent a reply back telling them to give me the d2S!!! My $hit is gonna be brighter than schnitzer540 and bobatimez...Shyne

na dude, the d2S HID bulb is for bimmers and benz's that use the projector beam type HID...the 2002 and 99-01 use a d2r bulb the one with the stripe...the d2s will fit both applications, although if i had a benz i would buy the d2s and not the d2r...happy blinging...Shyne

dang, you could've gone to suvlights and got em for 300 shipped... oh well
As for d2s and d2r, thats an ongoing mercedes, and bmw battle. the d2s was originally designed for projectors of the bmw. Mercedes, in light of this, searched for a unique style, and used the free-form reflector, for this the d2r was designed. D2r actually restricts light.
Inspire: Shyne bought the 6000K ultinons, anything other than philips who claim 6000K such as the K2, Vision, etc are particularly made my Korean companies, which are poor in quality compared to the german assemble bulbs. The 6000k bulbs were not intended for the US market, and was designed entirely for the Asian market (i.e. Japan specifically)
