Is the trunk flush with the rear quarter panels on top? Are the gaps around the lid ok? Pay attention to these areas as you do the following:
1. Slightly loosen the trunk striker bolts. (it is little U-shaped bar to which the latch attaches).
2. Move it down 1/8" (roughly). You may need to tap it with a rubber mallet (if it is too loose, you will never get it to stay in the right place. Use the mallet.),
3. Close the trunk. Check your gaps and offsets, make sure all fits well.
4. If it is still loose, and your gaps and offsets are still acceptable, repeat process.
This is how we fix them in the factory. It should snug everything up.
It is possible, however highly unlikely, that your trunk is too big. These hardly ever make it out of the factory, let alone to the consumer.
