CTS v (400hp 390lbT) official!!!

http://www.thecarconnection.com/inde...&sid=184&n=157

well...........we all new it was coming, and now its here. official release of photos. IMO, it looks good. The wheels are just right, and the rear is much improved. The front has always been very nice, specially those daytime running lights, give it a corvette look.

Lets just hope the interior gets some needed help, and this car will be as good as (Audi S4, MB 32 komp., M3, current M5, )

Now my 260hps from my CL and my G35 seem like a Honda Civic compared to the CTSv.

Hopefully the new Tl can break into the 300hp range, atleast we wont' be too far behind.

later

Question

so is the CTS a FWD car? If so, what ever happened to the "oh, if it is FWD all it can handle is 300 ponies and you know that the T.S. problem will rear its ugly face..." issue?

Actually......the current CTS and CTSv are RWD.
Also in the news earlier last week, the new 3.6 DOHC engine for the CTS. It produces about 255 hp with about 250+ of torque. This is a much need improvement, since the current 3.2 L only makes 220 and 221 lbT, and from the reviews I read, its not very refined.

I still don't see Cadi competing with BMW or Mercedes at all. I'd love to know where they are going to price this thing as well...I agree that this version certainly looks better than the current model, but I still find it hard to stomach...
Who can truly argue with 400hp, though? The article says Cadi is seeking sub 5 sec 0-60 but I'm not gonna hold my breath...
Looks like by 2005 all of us will have many choices of cars in the over 300hp club and I love the direction the entire industry is going with the sportiness of these sedans...
I can't wait!

I heard the V-6 CTS handles pretty well. I'm interested to see how this one does with the extra weight up front. I actually like the look of the car. I hated it at first, but seeing it in person helped a lot.

The weight distribution of the CTS-V is 54/46 (front, rear). That's not bad at all.

The engine in the CTS-V is the LS6 borrowed from the Z06. The rumor is, the C6's LS6 will be cranking out over 450 hp. And the CTS-V is featuring the current LS6 version, since it's available now to showcase. But once the C6's LS6 comes out, it could very well find its into the CTS-V. That'd be sweet.

While I'm a huge GM fan, the CTS' styling was never really appealing to me. But that -V looks very nice. By 2006, the lease on my '03 TL-S will be up, and I'll be looking into the CTS-V for sure.

ive always loved caddys, that may be fast, it may look aight, but its lost the spirit of a cadillac. they are trying to change their image way to drastically. IMO

IMO, it is an ugly car. It is not much different from the styling of current CTS. I didn't see that many looking at the CTS at the Auto Show and havn't seen one on the road in my areas for months. Too many GM cars have great styling but not enough engine and vice versa.

They don't have to come out with it. They already have.

The one for the Corvette will fit perfectly on this CTS-V, since it's the exact same engine.

i am a fan of GM too, coz my first car was a buick regal~!!

the small block V8...which has been around for more htan 40yrs and OHV design....it's so amazing that it's still widely used these days and it is competitable with the M3 engine....

they don't need a new engine coz the LS6 is already so gd~

but they should have make that earlier...i drove the 2001 caddy catera sport for the past winter...it's SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!! and 15.5mpg compare with my TL's 23mpg, and it's a lot faster too!!

The OHV design from the past and the modern design are almost entirely different, except for the basic structure and layout. But yes, it is amazing that it stuck around for so long, and is still being used. However, GM is basically the only one who still uses it. Ford doesn't use it much at all, neither does Chrysler, and the imports... well..

LS1/LS6 are true-to-the-heritage American pushrod V8.. pure Detroit muscle. God, I love it.

i gotta love my old buick's 3800 V6...it was sooo smooth and powerful, and it has been well known of it's reliability...good for going 300k miles and running strong...a bullet proof engine~

bentleys has the OHV engine~

I got the chance to drive a CTS at a Motor Trend Test Course on an old air-base. We drove with professional drivers, they pushed us to drive that thing like crazy, and we did. It handles great. I was totally surprised. Fit and finish was horrible. Plastic pieces were literally falling off the dash while we drove it. It was the 225hp stock car. I can only imagine what this new V version is gonna do. Caddy needs a lot of help in the "car" division. Their trucks are doing great, thanks to all the hip-hop dudes showing them off on MTV. This CTS-V might just help out all right.
