Unhappy Crunch goes the UA5

Well... A 16 year old girl happened to ruin my baby the other day.. pulled out across 3 lanes and I couldn't avoid the hit... All I saw was recently polished headlight pieces flying past the driver window... Waiting to hear from the insurance, first look estimate is $2,500 so hopefully not going to be totalled!

how everything looked a few weeks prior:

That stinks. But I would say that if an insurance co totaled something so minor I'd be pissed. If it comes out to be 2500, Buy the parts yourself used place them on yourself bring it to a body shop and have them paint it and pocket about 1k

Hey JDTL-S2002, Things happen just that quickly, be thankful that you were not any closer. The damage to your TL appears to be only superficial, nothing that would affect the integrity of the car itself. But it doesn't take very much to quickly add up to $2-3000 when it comes to replacing and painting body parts. Considering our car's age, mileage and tranny history.....many times insurance adjusters will simply write these cars off.

That could be an added bonus to you, as Fsttyms1 pointed out. Your car appears exceptionally nice and if the tranny is strong, don't let that car slip through your fingers.

Try to get as much on the claim as possible and then either rebuild it yourself or have a shop do the things you want. The insurance co. will be glad to cut a check and get out from any other potential liability claims.

Bummer , make sure they replace anything damaged and not tr to fix it . My car has been in accidents and the panels and bumpers don't match up well enough for my taste. drives me crazy . alos there is paint splatter and overspray , spots where they didnt tape it well .

As of now the initial damage estimate is $2,200. Thats replacing the fender, bumper cover, headlight, all door accessories (trim, mirror, handle) and repairing the hood as well as 3 stage painting all of the items listed. hood will be partially repainted and completely clear coated. Estimate could go up after the shop removes all the body panels and sees any more underlying damage. Insurance is covering everything so far, so hoping for the best!

Thanks for all the condolences guys, hoping to be back on the road by Christmas!

I hit an apparently solid steel dodge caravan. Scuffed some plastic molding and a small crease. But its bound to have overheating/transmission problems... Since its a dodge. so Im coping okay.
