Couple of Headlight Questions...

So I replaced my other headlight today, and while I had it all apart, put in a 55W HIDExtra kit. First issue is I left the bottoms of the headlights open, as the OEM ballast had the large seal. Any issues with water intrusion, should I somehow seal thos holes on the bottoms? Second is I didn't use a relay harness, since they already had HID ballast, just connected the OEM wires to the new ballast. One of the lights doesn't always come on, and I have to turn the lights on and off a few times to get it on. Is that a bad ballast already, or do I need to add relays, even though it has EOM HID ballasts? Thanks in advance...

If you have enough cable, Fill those holes with Window Gasket so its almost waterproof.. You don't want any kind of ventilation leak because it can create moisture.

Dont even bring those things outside till you get it sealed. Any moisture and dirt in there will blow the bulbs in no time flat.

anybody done the 55watt install? need a newer better relay?
your new connections are good, not run thru some adapter?
Its possible you got a bad part- things happen and that seller has an outstanding `immediate shipment of new part with their apologies` policy

those running the stock 35 watt have a plug and play setup
note the 55w produces some glare due to housing design
ck their aim and blindingness to oncoming traffic

OK, So take the bumper back off. That's all I am hearing. I personally have about 200 Bosch DPDT relays, so I can easily run a fused line and fix that. I was just being lazy as I thought the OEM wiring would be enough. I am pretty sure that even with 55W ballasts they won't need the inrush current that 11 year old factory ballasts would. I can close those holes, what do you recommend? I saw someone made a plexi cover, I'm not that dedicated to the task. Is there an off the shelf solution that doesn't include silicone or a permanent sealant? Thanks in advance...

call hidextra and describe the problem
wait 2 days for replacement part to arrive and install, seal with silicone
BUT my suggestion is make sure there is still an air vent for the extreme heat the bulbs put out at 55watts

a new relay wont hurt with the extra pull on electrical at light startup, hid should mean High Initial Draw! then lower power usage
as long as you have a box laying around, put a few to use
We do have issues with the solder under relay or fuse boxes needing repair
