Anyone ever use their free 21 point transmission diagnoses? I drove home from Philly the other night and my transmission seemed to be holding gears left and right and when I merged onto another highway I heard/felt a loud clunk going into third. I don't wanna pay Acura a diagnoses fee if I'm wrong though. Car has been holding 2nd a lot lately, but I don't know if it's just due to cold weather...

i say go to acura. even if they determine you have serious problems, acura isnt going to work on it without going through its own diagnosics check first. So you might as well just go ahead and fork over some cash, save yourself some time, and avoid the 3rd party possibly missing a failure warning costing you more later on.

Before you do anything, check your transmission fluid to make sure its not dangerously low. That can cause symptoms that you might be able to fix with a trip to the parts department.

Two cents well spent. Stay the hell out of those transmission shops. Even if you don't have a problem, they'll "find" one.

are you covered VIN in the trans extended warranty? not salvage title and under 109k miles?
acura is for you
If its found to be warranty covered- acura pays the diagnosis fee and provides a loaner car if possible for you!

slipping, thunking in 2nd 3rd and slipping/possibly with flashing D5 light on dash when getting on the freeway full throttle from 25-35 mph,, (especially uphill- more load) if it slips--dead clutch packs- the normal failure~
Check the fluid smell for burnt- low level is really odd- it should not leak any fluid

Going uphill into and out of 2nd gear is when it usually slips, I'll check the fluid level and quality this next time I go out to drive today. As for warranty, I'm over on the time limit, but way under on mileage. I only have 66k on the car.

Its worth a trip to acura- they are pretty good about giving partial to major `Goodwill coverage` when you have low mileage failure -even over time limits
