conventional vs. synthetic thermal imaging heat test!

top dead center just did a thermal imaging test of how conv and syn heat up, and the difference between the two??. now this was on a bike so the translation may be a little different , but the conv was tested and measured 11 degrees hotter at the exhaust ports and heads than the syn! they used royal purple max for the synthetic oil. final analyasis: syn keeps the engine cooler resulting in more horsepower, and lasts longer! this results in longer engine life and better performance spend the extra$! your whip will thank you for it!

I felt the same way when I switched my 03 TL-s over to Amsoil 10w30, but I didn't do any fancy testing

I thinking of changing to Amsoil 0w30 in the future, because I feel a slight loss of power using 10w30 over the 5w20 (3 in 1 oil).

try 10w40

with the heat in florida! i read an article that 40 weight is better for hotter conditions, it breaks down to like a 30 weight pretty quick! i just did a change from redline 30 up to 40.

5W30 Synthetic fed since the first oil change. A bit more expensive but definitely worth it in the long run.

Well thats my thinking 5w20 is shit in Florida, but thats what the manual calls for.

I was changing to a lower weight due to the fact of...

A.) Amsoil sugguested weight 0w30 for this car.

B.) My seat of pant Dyno says 10w30 is a bit heavy when VTEC is working :sqnteek:

I can tell you guys from 181,000 miles of mostly abuse that our 3.2's fed on Mobil 1 ( I've also used Amsoil) will go the distance no problem. Mine still uses NO oil between 6K mile changes and runs perfectly.

I need to switch to syn. I've been getting free oil changes at Park Ave and/or Ramsey Acura that I always forget to tell them to change to syn.
