Exclamation Comptech Drop In Filter Question

OK .... the reason I had issues with the K&N drop in filter not fitting my TL-S properly is because the damn store sent me the wrong part!!!! Regardless, after reading more infomation on the board I have decdied to go the Comptech drop in filter route. My only question is that the shape of the Comptech looks quite different from the stock airbox .......

Does the comptech filter fit into the stock airbox???

Yes, it fits in the stock airbox.....the one in the picture is not neccessarily the same part...they just use it for illustration purposes. Personally I think the K&N is a lot higher quality filter for the money, but the comptech one isn't bad

This is what it looks like:

It does fit, but it is a pain in the butt to get a good air-tight seal with the airbox. There are two tabs on the left side of the airbox looking in from the front of the car. The one furthest away from the bumper closer to the driver is really hard to get back on with the comptech filter. Be prepared to spend extra time any time you have to clean that bad boy.

I just read your other thread about the k&n, expect the exact same issue getting the comptech to fit. You will have to use a little elbow grease to get that rear tab to fit.

I put my comptech filter on this past saturday. It fit perfectly. I didn't have to apply any force at all. Just make sure you get the right one (type S vs non-type S).
