Unless you make a good cai out of aluminum or metal piping to go behind the fender i wouldnt waste my money. Take your resonator out, and drop in a K&N and save yourself a bunch of time and money.

X2. Taking out my resonator made the car sounds great at 5k+. Much better results than those stupid ass Apex'i mufflers i bought and muuucccchh cheaper!

unless you just bought universal mufflers and welded them on... in that case... shame on you!

Yeah it wasn't a catback it was Apex'i N1's welded onto the flange. I had the resonator and the 3rd muffler but it still droned like a bitch. After two months a really regretted the saw. Then I drove around like that for two years.

Short rams are a waste of money when you can just spend a bill more to get one that will actually increase hp and performance. Just save up for it like I did. I got my Injen CAI today and I'm loving it.

As an alternative (before you get the CAI), just remove your intake resonator and drop in a K&N air filter for the moment. Or you can just simply use your stock air filter like I used to do.

That's kinda true.. The only thing I realized after I had it installed was that.. the hum got way quieter and it makes this hissing noise whenever you tap on the throttle a teeny bit. And obviously, the sexy growl. Other then that.. I believe you'll only feel the performance during hard acceleration / high RPMs. The graphs show for themselves!

^well that's an uneducated statement. As long as you have your fender liner, and you don't enjoy driving through one foot deep of water you are fine..

^ is that a serious question..?

theres not many 2005 turboed imports i wouldnt take over my tl

Warranty > old car
Turbo > non-turbo

i view the TC as a female car but i'd drive one if it was boosted....

the 2g tl is getting old and the warranties are ending, as opposed to a 2005 model car is it's under a 10year/100,000k warranty or w/e

basically it's a better investment of money to buy the tC you specifically listed, unless it's modified and voided of warranty

i have 2 suggestions:

1. remove the mid-muffler and replace it with pipe. idk how much this costs because i got it done at a friends brothers shop, cost me $30

2. remove the intake resonator and replace it with a cone air filter from advance auto for about $30. to be honest, besides cold air intake, i would much rather do this than installing short ram intake, it serves the same purpose and save you $70+

of course it wouldnt hurt to do both

theres another method to increase the noise that i would not recommend due to personal opinion, and that is to replace the exhaust resonator with pipe (the can-looking thing on your exhaust system right before the mid-muffler)
the reason why i dont like this idea is that it will make raspier sounds, and decreases back pressure, which is not a plus in my book

feel free to add comments

^^ that is not the intake resonator

THIS is what you remove.

you leave the stock airbox in place....
