Post Clifford Intelliguard 8000

Howdy All,

I am looking at having the Clifford Intelliguard 8000 system installed in my TLS.
Any thoughts good or bad? Is the Intelliguard 9000 a better choice? Will the Acura security still work or do you even need it any longer?

Thanks,
Mark

I had a Clifford intelli voice installed on my 95 Comaro. Once I made several trips back to the dealer and got the bugs worked out, it was ok. However, the constant talking, telling you to step back etc. I basically left it in the valet mode. I just bought the acura and I don't think I will install an aftermarket alarm. Clifford makes a good product. The only thing I don't like about my acura is when you put it in drive the doors don't automaticly lock. I can't get used to remembering to lock the doors. That could get you killed where I live if someone hopped in the back seat and car jacked you. I would think an aftermarket alarm would lock the doors automaticly and that would be a nice feature.

The Intelliguard does lock the doors and now I think with the prox sensor it just chrips instead of the voice when someone gets too close. It also has a feature for anti carjacking.

I have an IQ8000 and love it. Super easy to install in TL, works perfectly with factory alarm (the Clifford arms and disarms factory alarm as needed). I didn't get the 9000 because of the extra features I didn't really need and I really liked the 8000's dual stage motion sensor and the optional omnisensor I added for impact.

Thumbs up

I have the IG8000 in my 2000TL.
It was installed the day after I picked up my TL from the dealer 12/28/99.
I wish I had gone with a a IG9000 or AvantGaurd4 now. When I got it installed I was unsure about the autostart feature. I did not want the feature that turns the lights on when it gets dark or when you turn on wipers. I keep my lights on all the time anyway. I did add stuff to my IG8000 like Pager, G4 Back-Up Siren, Cliffnet Wizard, Digital Tilt Motion Sensor & an extra Remote. I have had no problems with it after over a year of ownership. I still might get autostart added to it. The cost is about $130 to add it. The factory alarm is active if the Clifford is put in the valet mode. This is if you open the door without key the horn will sound. The Red LED light on the door will also be on. With the Clifford activated all the factory stuff is off.I love the anticarjacking feature. I have the RPM door lock turned on that locks your doors at a certain speed. I also Customised my 15 alarm siren sounds with the Cliffnet Wizard. I can tell my alarm from anyone else.
