Question Clifford Alarm owners....

I was curious if anyone with a Clifford alarm is having problems with their keyfobs? I'm noticing that when its really cold out, I can remote start the car fine but I get no response from the remote when trying to unlock the doors. I literally have tried to open the car for about 10 min before getting a response. The keyfob works, had my alarm store replace it. I also noticed over the summer I had the same problem a couple of times.

Am I alone on this one???

Thanks

-Rich

Well its not so much remote starting, no problems there. But have you had any problems unlocking the doors when its really cold out and the car has been sitting for a while?

I had a similar problem. I have the clifford IG7000 with no remote start. My problem happened during the summer. I only experienced it once though. Till this day I have no idea what happened. I basically tried to open the doors with the remote. No matter how many times I pressed the remote to unlock the doors it wouldn't unlock. Pretty wierd. Eventually I ended up opening the doors with the key and then quickly turned on the engine and punched in my code. The alarm was wailing. It wasn't a fun experience.

I know for sure it wasn't the batteries on the remote. I could still see the light go on everytime I press the remote.

What's a keyfob?

Try doing that when you have a pain generator siren mounted under the passenger seat. Not fun....

I have had no problems like that with my Clifford alarm remote.
The car will be 3yrs old on December 28th & the Clifford alarm was installed on the 29th of December so it will be 3yrs old also.
I have a question for all how often do you replace your batteries in your remotes? I have not replaced any remote batteries in the almost 3yrs of having the Clifford. I have 3 remotes the master & 2 copanion remotes. I never use the master except to adjust sensors. I have swithed back & forth between the 2 companion remotes.

I had this *exact* same problem when I had my Clifford SuperNova II on my '97 Maxima. Everything would work fine but the door locks would be very delayed when the car was cold. Sometimes they wouldn't open at all. Brought it back to the installer twice and they couldn't find the problem. Then I brought it to another installer and he said the problem was the original installer wired up a relay to send the pulses to the door lock mechanism to open the doors. For some reason when the relay gets cold it reacts slower and you get the slower response. His solution was to direct solder the wire that went into the relay into the doorlock mechansim itself so that instead of the relay sending the pulses, the actual doorlock mechanism did it (as it would with the factory remote). This solved the problem. I still own the Maxima and have gone through five more New England winters and the locks work perfect--just like factory.

I'm not sure if the same set-up is true for Acura. I've got a Clifford now on my '02 TL-S and it works fine all the time--even in the single digit weather we're having now.
