Clicking Sound in Sterring Wheel Column?
Hi -
I've recently started hearing and feeling a clicking sound when I turn. Its not loud or anything, but I can definietely feel/hear it when I turn. I immedietely thought... CV boot? But the thing is, it only happens when it gets really really hot. It doesn't happen in the mornings when I first drive off, but after work, I can definietely feel/hear it. And it doesn't happen when I make right turns...only left turns...
Am I going crazy? Could it be the heat causing the plastic or some part to morph a little bit?
TIA
Ming

No you aint crazy, It is somewhat possible for that plastic cover behind the steering wheel there to warm arm and become more relaxed i guess. I had the same sorts problem. I was driving one day and i make a turn and i here this like scratching/Clicking sound and it happend when i was turning left. It was driving me nuts so as soon as i got home and just put the car in park and looked behind the wheel while i slowly turned the wheel left and right and i ended up seeing exactly where the back part of the wheel was rubbing up against that plastic cover. So i just fucked with the cover and the little clips or whatever on the inside of the cover just needed to be resecured because they dont hold it in position too well. One clip came out of its spot and thats what made the corner part of the plastic piece just stick out a tiny bit and rub against the wheel when i turned so try doing what i did. If your problem isnt what i had then my bad. Later.
