Clear coat coming off

I just noticed that the clear coat on the corner of rear side molding is coming off alittle. Did anyone else have this problem? Would this be under warranty?

Quick question for you:

Do you wax your car, or have you in the past, weekly? This can cause pre-mature fading/thinning of the clear coat. I use to work for a detail shop in Highschool. I saw this happen a lot.

I'm sorry for stealing your post SoLo1183... I was wondering how much a whole clear coat would cost? Mine is wearing thin... Should I do it at the ACURA Dealership? Thanx

Yeah.. .SOLO.. this should be under warranty, cuz your car is only 2 years old.. maybe not even that old. I would take it into the dealer.

And AznBalla, not many dealership do body work or paint jobs at their dealership, they hire a thrid part body shop to do it. So your better off getting it done somwhere else on ur own. Advice for ya, is call up your dealership and ask them what place they would recommend to get body and paint work dont on ur car, they will most likely tell you the place of the body shop they use and hire for their cars ne wayz... so BINGO!! There you go.. u've eliminated the middle man dealer cost!!

GOOD LUCK!

There isn't really any way to Clearcoating the whole car again. You have to sand everything down, including basecoat, and paint the whole car which will cost you alot of money.

You can water sand & buff the clearcoat though.

And ACURA dealership doesn't do body or paint work. There's ACURA certified bodyshop.

They look like hell when they start peeling...

Take the car to the dealer and show them what is happening.

as long as there is nothing wrong with the base coat you dont need to sand the base off. you can wet sand the clear and then reclear it, but it will cost alot to do that too. the affected areas may need to be resanded/painted/ cleared. but you could wet sand the whole car and spray new clear on top

AznBalla.... how do you know its wearing thin? its not something that wears off and you reapply.
