Cleaning your CAI???

I installed an AEM CAI not to long ago on my 2002 TL-S and I was wondering how often do you all clean the filter?

Do I have to take the bumber off to clean?

And any Ideas of cleaning products to purchase?

thanks again

Just remove the clips that hold the inner wheel well plastic. You can pull the plastic back enough to get at the filter.

You can buy K&N oil. I use WD40 and it works pretty well.

I spray it with the jet setting on my garden hose, let it dry, then coat it with WD40.

I go through the bottom of the car. I find it easier to remove that way. I tend to clean it every couple of months if I drive regularly. A little more often if I drive through areas under construction constantly.

Exclamation Reminder!

It's much better to take the filter off, then Hi pressure it from the inside of the cone. This will push any dirt out and away from your filter element. If you leave it bolted on and hi pressure it, you run the risk of forcing little dirt particles into and through the filter. Which increases the risk of getting dirt sucked up in to the manifold.

And yes, cleaning depends on how often and where you drive. A visual inspection every other week will keep you informed.
