CL vs TL 6 Speed

This summer I'll be doing the swap over to a manual. I was looking through car-part.com, and it's slim pickings for a low mileage tranny.

I was deciding between the CL and the 3G TL manual tranny. Are there any differences between the two? I plan on using richie's module if that makes any difference.

From what I understand, they both have LSD and will bolt right up. Is one superior in any way, or are they pretty much identical?

I cant answer that.. but-
go to your local auto dismantler (junkyard)
tell them what you are doing and what you want
If it doesnt come into them, the industry hotline (like nextel) will find one for you
and get it to their or your door

talk to kris about which way to go

Hmm ok, thanks for the info.

I'll just stick with the CL to be safe.

^ +1, depends how it was treated by the original owner.

Knock on wood, my Accord 6 speed transmission has 130,000 miles on it and still shifts butter smooth.

Yea, I PMed him on this board, but IDK if he checks here. Still don't have enough posts on v6 to PM him there.

If I can't get a RV6 module, I won't be able to do the conversion =[

Why not, then just swap over the wire harnesses and get it to work. Now that the ckp sensor is no longer 500 bucks swapping the few wire harnesses over is about the price of the module.

It's much easier to PM Richie on V6 forum an last i check he still selling them. I know someone got module from him about month ago

I think CL tranny is little harder to find an may cost more.
For TL it much easier found an should cost alot less then CL. Only different is where peg needed be re weld to far left like CL is.

No moonroof, no abs, no air bags. I understand that it is possible to get those to work, but if you couldn't do it, I'm not gonna try.

I'm using an 04 TL 6mt. Only problem I've heard about the early 3g tl trannys was them popping out of 3rd gear sometimes. I believe people who had the issue would switch to GM syncromesh trans fluid and that solved the problem. I have NEVER experienced a 3rd gear pop out with mine and I'm just using honda's manual trans fluid. You'll save quite a bit of cash getting a 3g trans instead of getting one from a cl.

I could have gotten them to work, ( i did get the moon roof to work) ABS i knew i was removing so i didnt bother, air bags were a simple rewire. I was in a hurry at the point i put it together as i NEEDED the car as mine had been down for months and i was tired of renting cars. Having all the parts the swap and wiring could be done in a weekend where every thing works.

Are you using 4cyl accord components to delete the ABS system? I was thinking about doing this as well.

Yes, that is possible. Without the Richie module, you will need to get the CL-S6 engine, CL-S6 ECU, and CL-S6 wiring.

It is important that you get the CL-S6 engine. Alternatively, you could convert the 02 TL-S engine into a CL-S6 engine by changing some things.

Look into Fatty's build in the DIY section.
