CL-S Wheel Question II
O.K., If this is the formula for backspacing: A 7.5 cross section with a +45 offset is a 5.5216" backspacing....well within the 5.625" limit. A 7" cross section with a +55 offset is a 5.6654" backspacing....slightly above the 5.625" limit. The rubbing will be minor, but if the overall diameter is above the overall plus 1 or 2 upgrade....be ready for some problems.
I have a friend I saw this wekend that owns a 2000 Beetle Turbo. He lowered the vehicle and likes the look of factory as well, he got a line on 17" Porsche wheels in silver to match his car, but incurred the same problems as we did with clearance. He said he got spacers that fit over hub and lug holes that offset his wheel the few millimeters he needed for clearance. Is this a possibility for the TL, who makes these or do they have to be custom made?
